About Matt   Matt Pope has enjoyed a successful career in business, labor and public service. He is completing a dynamic term as Vice Chair of the Planning Commission where he served on the American Canyon Town Center Steering Committee, the Oat Hill Subcommittee, and was an original member of the Citizen's Advisory Committee for the Napa County Transportation and Planning Agency’s Strategic Transportation Plan, also known as "Napa's Transportation Future" . In 2007, Matt was elected as a delegate to the California Democratic Party's State Convention and served as President of the Democrats of Napa Valley, enabling him to develop constructive and open relationships with the decision-makers and elected officials in Napa and Solano Counties, Sacramento and Washington, DC who will be important allies in solving the regional challenges- such as traffic, water, and housing- that impact American Canyon. Matt has enjoyed a successful career spanning private business, public service and labor. He served as a non-commissioned officer in the US Naval Reserve and as a sworn reserve police officer for a large Bay Area city before moving to American Canyon. He and his wife Harlen live on the city’s east side.
